I just have to share how amazing the ham and cheese croissant at Petite Cerise is--it's seriously delicious! Picture this: a perfectly flaky croissant filled with gooey cheese and savory ham, paired with their awesome cappuccino from the cozy coffee bar. You can grab it to go or sit and enjoy the vibe. It's super convenient too, just a short walk from the Convention Center, and they're open Tuesday through Friday. I'm already planning my next visit to try more of their menu--I can't wait!
Very good bakery! It's on par with Un je ne sais Quois & tout de sweet. You need a reservation! The wait can be crazy. Also, get here early or call ahead to make sure they have the round croissants if that's why you're going. I took an out of town friend here to try the round croissant & they randomly didn't have it that day. Yes, the round croissants are better than a normal croissant.
This restaurant is beautiful.. cute French bistro in the DC downtown area near the conference center. We ordered several lunch/brunch dishes and they were all delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with this place. However, the star of it all was the French onion soup. It was cheesy and stringy and absolutely flavorful. It came in a generous portion and piping hot! If I lived in the area it would be my comfort food in the winter. I also loved the little snail clip that comes with our check at the end. Such a lovely place, wonderful service and delicious food! Check it out soon!!
I've tried Petit Cerise' dinner and brunch menu on two different occasions, and I have to say, I am over-the-moon impressed with 1. Their service and cleanliness 2. Their ambiance 3. Their food, especially brunch. 1. The service and cleanliness: the waitstaff are welcoming, kind, accommodating and attentive. Throughout both meals, the staff were open to answering any questions we had, came by just enough times to check on us and provide new plates and utensils for every course and felt like a conduit of the chef and kitchen. 2. The ambiance: It felt like they took great care in creating an authentic French bistro feel. The decor materials were an example of their attention to detail: Touches like antiqued brass-lined tables, white tile with dark grout, marble-topped surfaces, rich, forest-green paint and coordinating tapestry and warm solid-wood furniture made the place feel classic yet modern. 3. The food: Stole the show at brunch. I have been to several DC French restaurants and Paris, and I have never had whipped foie gras with pink peppercorn and raspberry preserves with beignets. They married the flavors, removed the gaminess and managed to make this decadent, savory-yet-sweet appetizer deceptively light, balanced and highly addictive! Even after we were done with the beignets, I kept the foie to dip in frites - SO TASTY. Lastly, the supreme NY croissants are WORTH THE HYPE. The flaky layers; the deeply flavored black sesame crème with raspberry jam... knocked my socks off. I was impressed and will go back for brunch any day. Thank you for a lovely experience!
Petite Cerise in DC is an absolute gem! I stopped by for breakfast and was thoroughly impressed. The croissants were the highlight--flaky, buttery, and baked to perfection. I also enjoyed a delightful breakfast spread that was both delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance of the restaurant is charming and quintessentially French, making for a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their menu. Petite Cerise is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic French breakfast in DC.
Third time's the charm at Petite Cerise- going back to try their new prix fixe dinner menu might have been my favorite trip yet. The menu for dinner is four courses for $58. The first course is small snacks and bread; second course is shared plates, each person chooses one and then the party chooses an additional plate for the table; third course is one shared entrée; and the fourth course was one set dessert. We also had the frozen Kir royales throughout our dinner- they were so good! The first course was a really nice start- the bread basket came with baguette and foccacia, plus very good olive oil for dipping. The comté crackers had an unusual combination of lavender, goat cheese, and tomato- it was unexpected but we enjoyed it. The oysters were excellent, and the fried squash blossoms came with this incredible tarragon dipping sauce that we could not stop eating. I really appreciated how our server saw that we were enjoying it and did not clear that or the bread basket throughout our meal so that we could keep picking at them. We chose the tagliatelle de courgette, potato pave, and charred octopus as our shared plates. The tagliatelle was so perfectly summery- the blue crab, coconut, zucchini, and turmeric all just went so well together. The potato pavé had more of a fall feel to it, but it was absolutely delicious and the plate itself was beautiful- this was one of my favorite bites of the meal. I'm not usually a huge fan of octopus, but this was cooked perfectly and, again, presented beautifully. The star of the show was the striped bass en croûte (or wrapped in puff pastry)- this was so outrageously good and really different from other menus. It came served with this tomato sauce that almost felt like an aioli but came out like a soufflé, which I had never seen before. We didn't love the dandelion salad it was served with, which was very bitter, but the bass was so perfect it didn't matter. The dessert was a fig sundae, which was the only thing I didn't love- I don't recall exactly what the ice cream was, but it had a lot of strong herbal/floral flavors that didn't go together for me. But we still had the perfect end to the meal with mango and passion fruit pâtes de fruits! This feels like one of the best deals for a prix fixe that I've seen in a long time, and the food really impressed me (more so than their brunch menu). It seems like the menu also changes regularly or seasonally. Highly recommend checking it out!
Recently I stopped by to indulge in a quick breakfast. I opted for an espresso which was served with a spoon full of raw sugar (3/5 and better than Illy but not by much), their breakfast sandwich, and two pastries to go. The breakfast sandwich was rich and ultimately a 4/5. The egg was buttery, the gruyere decadent, however as a saucy gal I would've preferred a touch more of the accompanying sauce. The almond croissant was a 5/5 and filled with a delicious amount of filling. The chocolate NY roll (although I didn't sample it) was also a 5/5 according to my friend. Overall, I would give my experience a 4/5 and I look forward to being back and sampling more pastries and some of their savory options.
Been here twice for a sit down lunch. Everything is really good. I got the radicchio salad with chicken and a side of frites. My lunch companion got the croque madame. (Monsieur with an egg). The salad with perfectly dressed and they brought over fresh black pepper when I asked. I liked the creamy onion dip that accompanied the frites. Ketchup available upon request. They have delicious iced tea, however I was not offered a refill. For $5 a glass, I think one refill is nice. Otherwise, this was a lovely experience.
